I just had a full length feature article published in the October issue of Chesapeake Life. Called “Badges of Honor: Tales of Eastern Shore Lawmen,” the piece features five law enforcement officials from the Shore. They are Sheriff Louis Andrews, 80, Caroline County; Chief Thomas N. McIntire, 83, Elkton; Officer Marshall L. Purner, 81, North East; Sheriff Robert Jones, 61, Somerset County; and Warden LaMonte Cooke, 57, Queen Anne’s County. I had lots of fun interviewing these fascinating men and hearing their tales of serving the citizens for decades.

Hey Mike, I had been meaning to comment on your article about Eastern Shore Lawmen in Chesapeake Life. I enjoyed the article and the good stories that the lawmen told; its crazy that only twenty years ago many local police agencies were barely in the 20th century in terms of technology and law enforcement procedures. My stepdad also liked the article; he appreciated the stories since he is a retired Delaware State Trooper.
Hope everything else is going well!

Andy:
Good to hear from you and thanks. I’m thinking about doing one from the Delaware angle someday. Does he have any contacts with older troopers/officers? I’d really like to get a few out of Wilmington PD too. In fact, I’d really like to do something on the riots in Wilmington before those men get too old. I’ll call up there someday and see if I can come up with some retires.
Ed and I were working at the University last night do the ghost walk for the incoming freshmen. Are you taking graduate courses?
Always good to hear from you.
Mike
